Invisalign clear aligners are designed to allow you to continue to live your life the way you want, while still providing the orthodontic treatment you require.
While you likely will not have to drastically alter the structure of your life to accommodate your orthodontic treatment there are a few things that you will have to be mindful of. You will have to brush and floss your teeth more frequently and make sure that you keep your aligners safe when they aren't in your mouth.
To do this, there are a few different items that you will have to make sure you carry with you at all times throughout your treatment.
A pouch.
to begin, you will need some kind of container or pouch to keep all of your Invisalign maintenance items on you. It will need to be something durable that can toss into your bag, backpack, desk or locker each day. You will also want this pouch to be zippered and water resistant.
Your aligner case.
When your aligners are not in your mouth, they should be clean and stored in your aligner case. Keep the case with you at all times so that you have a safe, clean place to store your aligners while you're eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth.
For those who don't carry their aligner cases with them, they will have a much higher chance of accidentally damaging or breaking their aligners. This will lead to delays in treatment while waiting for the aligner to be replaced.
Lip balm.
Keep your favourite lip balm in your kit. With orthodontic treatment comes dry lips, especially while you’re getting used to wearing your aligners. Be prepared so you don't experience any added discomfort.
Travel toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste.
Every time you take out your aligners to eat, you should brush and floss your teeth after. You really don't want to get food particles and other debris stuck between your teeth for the rest of the day. So, be sure to brush and floss thoroughly before replacing your clear aligners back into your mouth.
“Outie” Aligner Removal Tool
Sometimes, your aligners will just be especially tight, particularly when you first switch over to a new set. This handy tool will help you detach your aligner from your teeth in these cases.
Mints or breath spray.
You aren't able to chew minty gum while you have clear aligners in your mouth. So, if you are concerned about having bad breath, mints or breath spray can help you to feel more confident.
